About Mark Enget

Candidate For District 2

From Powers Lake to Bismarck

Anchored by faith. Guided by Morals.

I grew up on a small farm near Powers Lake. We didn’t have a lot, but we always had enough. There was food on the table, I had plenty of friends, and belonged to a loving family. You might say we were poor, but I never knew it because all my friends were poor as well! Life was good.

I attended Minot State University with the intention of being a teacher and coach. After four years of study, I was broke, and the energy industry appeared to be a good solution for my unhappy situation. I accepted a job in Texas, and three years later was transferred back to North Dakota where I met and married my wife, Roxanne, a Kenmare native. I continued working in the oil industry and the relocations never ceased. My professional career brought me to China, Pakistan, Venezuela, Houston, Oklahoma, Mexico, Singapore, the Philippines, Denver, and Houston. Along the way, we became parents to three daughters. While grateful for the opportunities, Roxanne and I sometimes felt our family was tethered to a suitcase. Growing weary of the “motion sickness”, I retired after 35 years in the industry. We returned to North Dakota and built a home near the farm where I grew up and still own.

Values Anchored by Faith

Through all of my life experiences, I have worked to build a strong personal foundation. My values are anchored by my faith, and they are rock solid. A truly thoughtful approach to complex or controversial issues must always be guided by sound moral principles. Leadership requires strength and courage, and without leadership we all fail together. My work experiences in North Dakota’s largest and most critical industries – energy and agriculture – have provided me with a deep understanding of these areas. My varied management experience will be beneficial as a member of the State Senate.

North Dakota is a great place to live, and my desire is to keep it that way, and preserve our values, culture and way of life. That means great educational opportunities for our children, strong and safe communities, fiscally prudent budgets, sensible laws, and fair regulations that protect us all. I would be honored to earn your vote.
