Government budgets and services must be judged by their effectiveness and efficiency. What is the need? Who does it benefit? What will it cost? Over what time span? Unfortunately, new programs often add cost and liability without delivering real, measurable value. Unneeded funds accrued through taxation and royalty gains should be returned to the population via income and property tax reductions. Entitlement programs must be scrutinized and fully justified, or eliminated. As North Dakotans, we believe in watching what we spend. Let’s demand the same of our government.
